COLOGNE, Germany, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Whether for doctor hopping or medical tourism, Europe is becoming increasingly important for health care. As a result, the German doctors' portal DocCheck is now cooperating with the European Medical Association (EMA). The aim: to improve communication between doctors and patient care providers throughout Europe.

Founded in 1990, the EMA is one of the largest European doctors' organisations in the world. It represents the European interests of over 50,000 member doctors from 27 member states and associated countries. The European Medical Association is a network which brings together colleagues from different countries by providing information and services. As a non-profit making organisation, the EMA is not influenced by financial interests. It aims to improve the quality of health care in general and medical working conditions in the European Community in particular. As such, the European Medical Association enjoys good relations with all the national medical organisations of the EU member states as well as international doctors' federations throughout the world.

The cooperative initiative between DocCheck and EMA aims to facilitate communication between EMA members, thereby making patient care services throughout Europe even more efficient. To this end DocCheck will make its DocCheck Faces portal available to all EMA members and also organise member surveys and an email newsletter for the EMA. DocCheck is the largest European doctors' portal with over 600,000 members. DocCheck Services are available in 25 countries and 29 different languages.

In DocCheck we have found a partner who, like us, thinks in European Terms, is how Dr Vincenzo Costigliola, President of the European Medical Association, summed up the new partnership. We are pleased to be able to offer our members even more services with DocCheck's support.

The European Medical Association is pursuing an important mission which we definitely want to support, remarked DocCheck's director Dr Frank Antwerpes. Health care provision is becoming increasingly international. All doctors in Europe must respond to this challenge.
