- Anil Chhabra to spearhead development of UMTS femtocells

Airvana, Inc. (Nasdaq: AIRV) the company transforming the mobile experience, has appointed mobile industry veteran Anil Chhabra as VP of Engineering for its UMTS Femtocell division. Based in Cambridge, UK, Anil Chhabra will be responsible for the technical development of Airvana's UMTS femtocell product line.

Anil Chhabra, a 20-year telecoms veteran, brings significant experience in high-production environments to the role, including the management of 300+-person engineering teams. Anil has held engineering positions at a number of communications firms including RadioScape Ltd, a designer of digital audio broadcasting (DAB) multiplexers and modules, and UbiNetics, a 3G mobile communications company.

In addition to a PhD in Physics from Imperial College, London, Anil Chhabra also holds an MBA with distinction from Birmingham University and is a member of both the Institute of Physics and the Association of MBAs. His previous roles include vice president and head of broadcast business unit at RadioScape and senior vice president of UbiNetics, where he grew the engineering team from 75 to 400, as well as conceiving and implementing its multi-site development strategy. His previous experience includes management positions at Pace Micro Technology, Acorn and Unicam Ltd.
