BARCELONA, Spain, February 11 /PRNewswire/ -- MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2010 -- Airvana, Inc. , the company transforming the mobile experience, will showcase its HubBub(TM) UMTS femtocell solutions at Mobile World Congress 2010 with full working demonstrations. In addition to a unique audible demonstration of the capabilities of its enterprise product, Airvana will be outlining the potential of its high-speed consumer femtocell to create a new mobile applications and services platform.

The femtocell is a small device that plugs into a standard broadband connection and creates a personal in-home (or business) mobile network. It provides full 'five-bar' 3G mobile phone reception throughout the home or office and multi-megabit data connections, all without impacting on the capacity of the mobile operator's radio access network. Femtocells give operators the opportunity to minimize customer churn and attract new customers with guaranteed in-building voice and data coverage and compelling applications and services.

Airvana will be giving the following demonstrations:

Musical mashup

Music will be streamed from an Airvana enterprise femtocell to 16 mobile handsets simultaneously, to create a wireless symphony. The demonstration will showcase the femtocell's capabilities in a demanding multi-user environment.

The family tablet

A touch screen, femtocell connected tablet based application, designed with the busy family in mind. The demo will feature a range of social, multimedia-based services designed to keep the family 'location aware' and fully connected. An Android-based mobile phone app, operating on the Google Nexus One device, will also be demonstrated that enables family members to remotely interact with the family tablet via the femtocell.

Airvana's fastest femtocell yet

Airvana's latest generation HubBub femtocell is proven five times faster on average than typical indoor macro network performances. 'Buffer-free' HD video will be streamed live to a mobile handset simultaneous with other applications, to illustrate the HubBub's data transfer capabilities.

The demonstrations will be take place on Stand: AV91 at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona.

In addition, as a founding member of the Femto Forum, Airvana will be taking an active role in the industry group's 'Femtozone' showcase in Hall 1, Stand 1G19.
